Safety, Inclusion, & Success in the Classroom
Asthma is the leading cause of chronic disease-related school absenteeism. For a student, a flare-up at school can mean more than just physical distress-it can lead to missed lessons, anxiety during PE, and feelings of isolation.
At Airway360 Education, we specialize in coordinating the “Golden Triangle” of care: the Physician, the Home, and the School. Our school-based program ensures that every adult in a child’s school day is equipped to keep them safe, active, and breathing easy.
The Professional Asthma Action Plan (AAP) Audit
A piece of paper in a school nurse’s file is only effective if it is understood.
Translation for Educators: We help parents and school staff translate clinical orders into daily classroom actions. Self-Carry Readiness: We assess and train older students to demonstrate the maturity and technique required to carry their own rescue inhalers (in accordance with state laws and school policies).
Staff & Faculty Training (The “Safe-at-School” Workshop)
Teachers and coaches are often the first responders. We provide training for:
The “Early Warning” Signs: Training teachers to recognize subtle symptoms (a quiet cough, withdrawal from play, or irritability) before they become a “Red Zone” emergency. PE & Recess Strategy: Coaching physical education teachers on pre-exercise medication timing and “active recovery” breathing for students. Emergency Protocol: Clear, calm instructions on what to do if a student has a respiratory crisis in a classroom or on the field.
Environmental School-Trigger Mapping
We help schools and parents identify common classroom triggers that can be mitigated.
Classroom Triggers: Identifying risks like class pets, strong cleaning scents, or seasonal pollen near playgrounds. Bus & Locker Room Safety: Addressing high-exposure areas that are often overlooked.
Student Empowerment Sessions
We believe children should be the “CEO of their own lungs.”
Age-Appropriate Education: Using engaging, non-scary language to teach children how to recognize their own “Yellow Zone.” Device Mastery: Ensuring the student can use their spacer and inhaler flawlessly under the pressure of a school day.
Who This Program is For
Parents: Who want to ensure their child’s school is prepared and compliant with their medical needs. School Administrators: Seeking professional RRT-led staff development to meet health and safety standards. Coaches & Club Leaders: Who need to understand the respiratory needs of their athletes.
The Airway360 Advocacy Advantage
As an RRT with an MHA, I don’t just teach breathing; I understand the administrative side of school health policies. We help facilitate the communication that ensures your child is never “the kid on the sidelines,” but an active, safe participant in every school activity.
